Job summary

Wintrust is offering a 12-week summer Legal Internship in Rosemont, IL. The role provides hands-on experience in corporate, regulatory, and litigation support, with paid hours at $25 per hour and in-person work.

You will work closely with legal teams to perform research, draft documents, review contracts, and participate in regulatory meetings, while gaining exposure to brand and business objectives. Candidates must be a first-year law student, maintain GPA 3.0+, and demonstrate strong writing,

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in first year of law school, starting second year in fall 2026.
• GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
• Excellent writing and research abilities.
• Strong communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with colleagues to meet business objectives defined by the specific line of business.
• Gain a greater understanding of a corporate legal department’s litigation, compliance, corporate and regulatory functions.
• Complete legal research and writing projects; assist with subpoena responses and other legal requests; assist with contract review; participate in regulatory compliance meetings and complete other tasks as assigned.
• Understand the overall concept of the company, including the brand, customer, product goals, and all other aspects of service.
• Accept designated, business-focused projects to complete.
• Engage with customers or clients and provide excellent service.
• Learn and become proficient on internal software systems.

Legal Intern Job Responsibilities:

Details:

• The 2027 program will run for 12 weeks from May through August.
• 40 hours/week, in person, paid summer internship.
• Participate in intern program activities, events, and development opportunities with your cohort.

Compensation:

• The hourly rate for this role is $25.00/hour.

• Currently enrolled in first year of law school, starting second year in the fall of 2026.
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
• Strong analytical, decision-making, project management, organizational, and writing skills.
