Job summary

Xenia Community Schools in Xenia, Ohio seeks a Winter Percussion Director to plan and instruct the percussion program for the winter pep band season (December to February). The instructor will select music, schedule rehearsals, and coordinate performances at school events.

Under the High School Band Director's supervision, the candidate will work with students of varying ages and skill levels, maintain drumline equipment, and ensure safe, ethical conduct and high-quality performances.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma
• Strong background in marching band and percussion performance
• Drum corps or university marching band experience preferred
• Experience with percussion subgroups (snare, bass, tenor, mallets)
• Experience teaching percussion to high school students
• Ability to inspire students and build enthusiasm
• Ability to tune/repair drum heads and minor repairs on drumline equipment
• Strong organizational and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Plan and instruct the winter percussion program during the December–February season
• Select appropriate music and rehearse the ensemble for events
• Coordinate performances at designated events and manage logistics
• Maintain and tune drumline equipment and help with repairs as needed
• Collaborate with the High School Band Director and staff to ensure quality shows
