Job summary

The City of Soldotna is seeking Seasonal Winter Parks & Rec Laborers to help maintain parks, facilities, and ice facilities across the community. The role involves outdoor work in variable winter conditions and requires a strong customer service mindset.

Laborers will learn basic carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and ice maintenance while operating vehicles and equipment such as Zamboni, skid steer, chain saws, and snow plows.

Qualifications

• Be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
• Must be available to work varying schedules including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must have a valid driver's license. Must have and maintain a good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Performs regular and recurring tasks related to the maintenance and operation of parks and recreation facilities.
• Operates vehicles and specialized equipment such as Zamboni, skid steer, lawn mowers, chain saws, ATV, snow plows, and various hand tools.
• Perform general janitorial duties to include but not limited to sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping floors, emptying trash, cleaning windows, washing walls, cleaning locker rooms and restrooms.
• Perform minor interior building maintenance such as painting, plumbing, carpentry, and other unskilled and semi-skilled trades work
• Frequent outdoor work and exposure to inclement weather and rigorous conditions including snow removal from sidewalks, parking lots, trails and the maintenance of outdoor ice skating facilities.
• Provides friendly customer service and works collaboratively with others to accomplish tasks.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
