The State of Nebraska, through Transportation - Agency 27, is hiring winter temporary Highway Construction Technicians for North Platte and surrounding areas. The role involves inspecting routine construction phases and maintaining records.

Pay starts at $20.39 per hour, with potential promotion to Technician II at $23.454 per hour after certification and demonstrated skills. These temporary positions run through March 31, 2027, with hours potentially exceeding 40 per week depending on weather.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver’s license (Tech I).
• Construction-related coursework or training acceptable for Tech II plus driver’s license.
• Preferred: coursework in math, construction management, and engineering.
• Basic computer experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Inspect routine phases of construction projects under supervision.
• Use Windows-based programs (Word/Excel) to maintain records.
• Possibly participate in survey crew activities and test construction materials.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
