Job summary

Department of Transportation is seeking Winter Maintenance Seasonal workers for Sioux Falls and Lennox, SD. Positions available: 3. Pay: $22.80–$24.60 per hour, depending on experience.

Shifts vary; Lennox Day Shift (1), Sioux Falls Night Shift (2) from 4:00 pm to 4:00 am. The normal winter season runs Sept 24 through May 8. Responsibilities include snow and ice removal on state highways, posting and maintaining traffic control devices, and other highway maintenance tasks.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Valid driver's license with Class A or B CDL and N Tank Vehicles endorsement.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment and work in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Snow and ice removal on state highways during winter.
• Perform highway maintenance tasks and install/maintain traffic control devices.
• Maintain and repair department facilities and equipment.
• Provide temporary traffic control through work zones and emergencies.
• Be available for overtime, weekends, and holidays during incidents.
