Job summary

Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is recruiting for winter seasonal Highway Maintenance Worker positions in Leavenworth and surrounding areas. You will operate snow removal equipment, perform road and drainage repairs, and support traffic control during emergencies.

The role requires CDL-B with N, a flagging card, First Aid, and the ability to work outdoors, nights, and weekends. This is a non-permanent 3–6 month assignment with potential for next season.

Qualifications

• Valid Class B CDL with N endorsement and no airbrake restrictions.
• Valid CDL Medical Card.
• Washington Flagging Card or ability to obtain within 2 months.
• First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Work nights, weekends, holidays and be on call.
• Able to traverse rough terrain and heights above 25 feet.

Responsibilities

• Maintain highways for safe travel with snow and ice control, snowplows, deicing; remove debris.
• Perform routine maintenance: pavement, drainage, erosion, vegetation, signs, guardrails.
• Operate a variety of maintenance equipment including loaders, excavators, graders, trucks.
• Install and maintain highway infrastructure and roadside features.
• Respond to emergencies with traffic control and lane closures.
• Document daily work, track inventory, and prepare estimates.
