WINE STEWARD (Finance)

Qualifications:

• Second language (speaking, reading, and/or writing)
• Knowledge of imported and domestic varieties, flavor profiles, and production methods
• Knowledge of industry trends in specialty wines and beers as they relate to consumers
• Experience working with wine and beer
• Retail experience
• High school education or equivalent
• Must be 21 years of age
• Ability to handle stressful situations
• Effective communication skills
• Knowledge of basic math
• Pass wine test once employed

Responsibilities:

• Promote trust and respect among associates
• Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions about products sold within the department and throughout the store
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to customer questions and suggestions
• Offer product samples, following company guidelines and laws, to help customers discover new items
• Inform customers of wine specials
• Provide customers with requested products
• Recommend wine items to ensure customer needs are met
• Assist with pairing wine and other items like meats, cheeses, and desserts
• Collaborate with store chef for tastings and wine programs
• Stay current with ads and promotions
• Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers, and keep logs
• Follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management
• Inspect equipment and report repairs needed
• Report customer or employee accidents and safety hazards
• Report illegal activities such as theft or fraud
• Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation

Salary Range: $25.40 - $25.40
