Job summary

The AES Corporation in New York is seeking a Wind Technician Apprentice for a wind farm in Churubusco. You will support safe operation and maintenance of wind turbine power generation equipment, including GE 1.5, Vestas V-80, and Siemens 2.3 models.

Applicants must reside in the area or be willing to relocate, have a valid driver's license, and hold a High School Diploma or GED (Associates in electronics preferred).

Qualifications

• 3-5 years' related experience in a power plant environment preferred.
• Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills.
• Good decision-making skills.
• Capability to multi-task and prioritize work.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and comprehend technical information.
• Must have an unrestricted driver’s license and be able to speak English.
• Must meet weight requirements for safety equipment and wind turbine equipment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair wind turbine generation equipment.
• Perform general and preventive maintenance on generators, pitch systems, yaw systems, cooling systems, and other wind turbine support systems.
• Carry out troubleshooting and repair activities to ensure wind turbine equipment operates at optimum levels.
• Varying day shift schedule allows up to 6 days a week of coverage; respond to call outs and overtime as needed.
• Adhere to safety policies and inspect safety equipment, vehicles, PPE, and plant equipment.
