Job summary

The AES Corporation operates a Wind Technician Apprentice position at a wind farm in Churubusco, NY. The role requires experience with GE 1.5, Vestas V-80, and/or Siemens 2.3 turbines, or willingness to learn, plus a valid driver’s license.

Candidates must live in the area or be willing to relocate. The technician will perform safe operation and maintenance of wind turbine power generation equipment, with shifts up to six days a week and potential overtime.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree or 3+ years in electrical/electronic repair or mechanical field.
• 3–5 years’ related experience in a power plant environment preferred.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and technical information.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid driver's license and ability to speak English.
• Must meet safety equipment weight requirements.

Responsibilities

• Conduct work in a professional, environmentally conscious, and safe manner.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair wind turbine generation equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance on generators, pitch, yaw, and cooling systems.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems on turbines.
• Respond to call outs and overtime as needed.
• Adhere to all safety policies and inspect safety equipment and plant equipment.
