Brays Island Plantation seeks a multifaceted Hunts Department helper to assist in managing wildlife habitat and to perform light mechanical work on department equipment. This role includes guiding hunts for owners and guests, maintaining gear, and keeping detailed maintenance records.
You will diagnose simple vehicle issues, perform routine maintenance, and support hunt-related events. Candidates should have a high school diploma and preferably ASE-certified diesel/light truck skills, plus

FUNCTION: Responsible for assisting Hunt Supervisor & Director of Wildlife Management in the management of wildlife and its habitat on Brays Island Plantation as well as serving as a light duty mechanic for the Hunt Department equipment. Responsibilities include guiding hunts for owners and guests and providing maintenance and/or certain repairs to assigned equipment and vehicles. Ensures that all support and service is conducted and fulfilled in a manner consistent with the vision of “One Brays” goals and objectives.

1. Capable of working extended hours, to include weekends and holidays as necessary.
4. Must be able to speak English in a clear and understandable voice so that various types of communications may be conducted with people of various levels of education and capabilities.
5. Position involves climbing, sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, shoving, lifting, carrying and moving objects that can weigh up to 75 lbs. This movement can occur throughout the day. Must be able to transport oneself around the plantation. Must be able to drive a car, and possess a valid driver's license.
6. Must be physically and intellectually capable of operating a computer, telephone and various other routine business items.
Education: High school graduate and/or equivalent of education and ASE Certified light truck and Diesel Mechanic preferred.
Knowledge: Prior knowledge of hunting and farming operations and ability to troubleshoot and repair gas and diesel vehicles and heavy equipment. High knowledge of firearm safety. Basic knowledge of first aid.
Skills: Highly effective interpersonal skills, strong customer service experience, problem solving abilities and advanced communication skills a plus.
Experience: 1-2 years hunting and farming experience preferred as well as multiple years mechanical experience.
Personality: Must be able to effectively interact with all types of individuals, be mentally alert, detail oriented with good reasoning skills.
