Job summary

A commercial hunting facility in Florida is seeking a Hunting Guide to conduct guided quail hunts at their venue. The ideal candidate must possess extensive experience in hunting, knowledge of safety regulations, and the ability to communicate effectively with guests. Responsibilities include ensuring the safety of guests, assisting with hunting gear, and maintaining positive communication. The role requires physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. CPR certification is preferred.

Qualifications

  • CPR and First Aid Certified preferred.
  • Extensive quail/bird guiding and hunting experience in Southeastern USA.
  • Good knowledge of South Florida habitat.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct guided quail hunts as needed.
  • Communicate hunting laws and safety procedures to customers.
  • Be responsible for the safety of the hunting party.

Job description

The hunting guide will be responsible for conducting guided quail hunts at our 1,876-acre commercial hunting facility as well as the family hunting area in Brighton on an “as needed basis. The hours will flex and include weekends as well as occasional holiday work.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible to acquire, learn and practice all LBI Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs) and comply with these standards as well as safety regulations pertinent to the department and job functions.
  • In cooperation with the Silver Lake Preserve Manager conduct quail hunts as needed.
  • Communicate the hunting laws and safety procedures to customers to ensure compliance and safety.
  • Assist guests with hunting gear and vehicles as needed.
  • Maintain open and positive communications with all guests, manager, and other team members to maximize the optimal experience of all hunting and/or lodge guests. A good reputation brings back customers back to experience another hunt.
  • Be responsible for the safety of the party and be ready to administer first aid and handle emergencies as needed.
  • Preserve, clean, and prepare all game birds taken in hunt at the guest’s request.
  • Clean and help maintain preserve fleet vehicles in good working order.
  • Help, as needed, in the use and care of hunting dogs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certificates, licenses, and registrations:
  • CPR and First Aid Certified, preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with insurability.
  • Knowledge/Skills:
  • Good working knowledge of guns and hunting gear.
  • Professional personal presentation.
  • Demonstrates initiative and reliability.
  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Education/Experience:
  • High school diploma.
  • Extensive quail/bird guiding and hunting experience in Southeastern USA.
  • Good knowledge of South Florida habitat.
  • Physical Demands & Work Environment: Individual will work outdoors in all kinds of weather. Physical strength is required due to hiking on irregular surfaces, lifting gear, game, water, and land vehicles, etc. Individual is regularly required to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time. Occasionally required to climb or balance, walk on uneven surfaces, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required: close, distance, and peripheral vision. Occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Other:Exhibit patience and ability to instruct others.
