Job summary

The City of Idaho Falls Zoo is seeking a full-time Animal Keeper to support the carnivore area and assist with care of primates, birds, and other species. You will work with the Animal Care team to uphold high welfare standards and AZA accreditation, delivering enrichment and accurate records.

The position requires flexibility, strong observation and communication skills, and the ability to lift up to 75 lbs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Zoology, Biology, Animal Behavior or related field, plus 3 years of captive wildlife care.
• Knowledge of animal welfare, behavior, enrichment, and records.
• Valid Idaho driver’s license; lift up to 75 lbs; ability to work evenings/weekends/holidays.

Responsibilities

• Monitor health and behavior of animals in assigned area daily.
• Prepare and provide animal feed according to diets.
• Clean and disinfect enclosures and exhibits.
• Develop enrichment activities and train animals for handling and visitor education.
• Maintain detailed animal care records.
• Assist with facility maintenance and safety protocols.
