Job summary

The Caldwell Zoo in Tyler, TX is seeking a Mammals Keeper - Primates to provide daily care for primate groups and maintain exhibits. This role requires attention to safety, record-keeping, and collaboration with veterinary staff and trainers to support enrichment and training programs.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent education in biology or animal science.
• One year experience or training preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and disinfects enclosures and equipment daily to maintain a safe environment.
• Checks exhibits for cleanliness, safety, and structural integrity daily.
• Keeps behavioral, veterinary, and diet records.
• Carries out veterinary treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian.
• Supports enrichment, training, and conditioning activities.
• Recognizes proper diets and feeding habits for primates.
• Answers visitor questions and helps create a positive guest experience.
• Follows safety policies and assists in training new keepers.
