Job summary

Kaizen Lab Inc. is seeking an Animal Keeper 1 to care for animals at the African Watering Hole exhibit. You will work with other keepers to meet zoo-wide initiatives and report to the Area Manager and General Curator.

Responsibilities include daily husbandry, feeding, monitoring behavior, recording welfare data, providing enrichment, and assisting in training and welfare assessments. A valid driver’s license and a background in zoology/biology are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in zoology, biology, or a related field strongly preferred.
• At least one year of animal care experience preferred; zoo experience preferred.
• Ability to collect and collate data for studying animal behavior; valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic daily husbandry, food and water for animals in assigned area.
• Observe behavior and physical condition of animals and report concerns.
• Maintain daily records of animal behavior and welfare.
• Assist in training and enrichment activities for animals.
• Participate in animal transport, safety procedures and facility inspections.
