Job summary

The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is seeking a Wildlife Technician in Green River, WY to support wildlife and habitat data collection, disease surveillance, and public relations according to Department policy. The role includes working with landowners and the public, maintaining facilities, equipment, and grounds, and assisting with wildlife conflict resolution in remote settings.

Qualifications

  • Preference for a four-year college degree in wildlife management or natural resource fields.
  • Experience in wildlife management and/or wildlife law enforcement encouraged.
  • Field experience operating ATVs/UTVs/snowmobiles and remote fieldwork under extreme conditions.
  • Experience with firearm proficiency and lethal wildlife removal is preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with collection of biological data during wildlife and habitat surveys.
  • Support aerial wildlife surveys from fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters.
  • Collect hunter-harvest information (species, age, sex).
  • Humanely euthanize sick and injured wildlife as needed.
  • Collect samples for Chronic Wasting Disease surveillance.
  • Assist with wildlife conflict situations in urban and rural settings.
  • Assist with wildlife research and data management.
  • Support depredation control for crops and livestock.
  • Communicate with landowners about wildlife damage and build relationships.
  • Live trap and relocate wildlife as necessary.
  • Provide outreach information and assistance to the public.
