Job summary

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Wildlife Conservation in Fairbanks is seeking a Fish and Wildlife Technician 3 to provide public information, issue permits, sell licenses, and collect harvest data in the Regional Wildlife Information Center.

You will support researchers, perform data entry in Microsoft Office and ArcGIS, assist during aerial surveys, and respond to nuisance wildlife while following safety protocols.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent or higher education as a substitute.
  • Experience with data entry and wildlife information dissemination.
  • Ability to work with the public in person and over the phone, and operate field equipment.
  • Willingness to work in remote field settings and potentially with hazardous conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide public information about hunting, trapping and wildlife viewing regulations.
  • Issue permits and harvest tickets, sell licenses and collect harvest reports.
  • Seal animals and collect data; assist with field and logistical support for researchers.
  • Operate in the Public Information Center and assist with aerial surveys when needed.
