Job summary

Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) in Colorado (Hot Sulphur Springs) is seeking a temporary staff member to support hunter-harvest processing, data collection, payments, CWD sampling, and related customer service duties. The role includes transporting materials between sites, assisting with inspections of wildlife, selling licenses and park products, and providing information to visitors both in person and by phone.

This is a 9-month position requiring outdoor work and the ability to lift 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Current and valid driver’s license required.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions and lift 50lbs.
• Ability to interact positively with the public in various situations.
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Google products, Apple products)
• Weekend and evening work may be required.
• Hunting and fishing experience helpful.
• Applicants may be subject to successful completion of a comprehensive background check.
• Must be willing and able to work 40 hours per week.
• Must be comfortable working with and handling dead animals.

Responsibilities

• Accept hunter-harvested deer and elk heads, collect data, process payments, and collect samples for CWD testing.
• Drive relay routes to transport hunter-harvested deer and elk from collection sites to research sampling sites.
• Receive training on tissue sample removal for CWD testing and mandatory inspections of wildlife.
• Sell products to customers, including licenses, refunds, duplicate licenses, hunter education cards, and parks products.
• Provide information to customers in person and on the phone.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
