The State of Washington's Department of Natural Resources seeks a Fire Management Officer in the Southeast Region, East Wenatchee. This full-time, permanent role supports wildland fire management services, collaborates across jurisdictions, and advances forest health strategies.

Salary ranges from $4,517 to $6,708 per month. The position includes a 3-24 month in-training plan with potential to become Wildland Fire Management Unit Manager. Travel and field work are required.

Qualifications

  • Certified as NWCG Single Resource Boss and Incident Commander Type 5.
  • Supervisory experience in wildfire operations.
  • Experience in leases and contract negotiations.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Chelan Fire Unit Fire Protection and Suppression Program.
  • Preparedness: manage pre-suppression and interagency agreements.
  • Supervision: oversees multiple Wildland Fire Management staff and seasonal fighters.
  • Build and maintain interagency partnerships and communications.
  • Lead fire regulation, prevention programs, and public education.
  • Assist with Community Resilience planning and CWPP processes.
  • Perform other duties; may act as Fire Operations District Manager.
