Job summary

Washington State Department of Natural Resources seeks a Fire Management Officer (FMO) in the Southeast Region (East Wenatchee) to manage Chelan Fire Unit fire protection and suppression programs. This full-time, permanent role supports interagency coordination and delivers prevention initiatives across communities with a strong emphasis on safety and public service.

The position is in-training for WFMSpec or WFMUM, offering a salary range of $4,517 to $6,708 per month, with relocation

Responsibilities

• Coordinate Chelan Fire Unit Fire Protection and Suppression Program to protect lives and resources.
• Lead pre-suppression and suppression activities, and supervise staff and crews.
• Build and maintain interagency partnerships through regular meetings and coordination.
• Lead the Region's Fire Regulation and Prevention Programs and ensure compliance with RCW/WAC.
• Engage with public and landowners to deliver prevention messages and reduce unwanted ignitions.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including acting as Fire Operations District Manager when needed.
