Job summary

The Washington State Department of Natural Resources seeks an Assistant Fire Management Officer (Wildland Fire Management Specialist) in the Northeast Region, Colville, WA. This full-time, permanent role will supervise up to 16 staff during fire season and help coordinate suppression, prevention, and regulatory activities across Stevens, Ferry, and Pend Oreille counties.

Responsibilities include training, staffing analyses, incident reporting, and collaboration with interagency partners.

Qualifications

• NWCG qualifications required: Single Resource Boss and Incident Commander Type 5.
• Supervisory experience required.
• Experience in agreement and contract negotiations.

Responsibilities

• Plans and implements wildland fire training for seasonal crews and interagency cooperators.
• Assists with developing the Unit’s annual preparedness review and drills.
• Ensures safe working practices are followed.
• Tracks crew training and ensures position task books are completed.
• Assists in developing an operations plan for the fire unit.
