Job summary

Washington State Department of Natural Resources seeks a Fire and Forest Health Engine Boss, WFMSup, to lead wildland firefighting operations and support the Southeast Region’s initial attack program in East Wenatchee, WA.

Responsibilities include supervising a crew, managing equipment, coordinating prevention activities, and supporting forest resilience efforts; travel and physical fitness tests are required.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising or leading wildland firefighting personnel.
• NWCG Single Resource Boss qualification is required.
• Two years' experience in wildland fire management, natural resource, forestry, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education/experience.

Responsibilities

• Fire suppression: supervise three wildland firefighters and manage engine operations and equipment.
• Coordinate community wildfire prevention and preparedness activities including hazard assessments and fuel-reduction tasks.
• Assist in forest health programs, cost-share processes, and use GPS/ GIS to collect and map data.
• Participate in required physical fitness testing as NWCG dictates.
