Job summary

Seneca Global Services, LLC seeks a full-time Wildland Fire Support Specialist to support the Army's environment, safety, and occupational health programs. You will mature and oversee the wildland-fire program and develop policy materials for Army commands and installations.

The role requires 7–10 years of wildland-fire experience, a related bachelor’s degree, and the ability to obtain a Secret clearance. Travel and MS Office proficiency are necessary.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in fire ecology, fire science, forestry, wildlife/natural resource management, emergency management, or closely related field, or equivalent wildland-fire program experience.
• 7–10 years of professional wildland fire, fuels/prescribed fire, or fire-program management experience on federal, military, state, or interagency lands.
• Knowledge of federal wildland-fire policy, NWCG/interagency standards, and fire ecology as applied to land management.
• Familiarity with Army installation natural-resource programs and IWFMPs/INRMPs.
• Ability to obtain a Secret clearance and to travel as required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Seneca Global Solutions (SGS) is seeking a full-time Wildland Fire Support Specialist to support the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army for Environment, Safety and Occupational Health (ODASA(ESOH)) in maturing, executing, and overseeing the Army Wildland Fire Management Program. Army installations use prescribed fire and wildfire response to protect training land, infrastructure, and listed species while meeting interagency fire standards. This position provides technical, policy, and administrative support across Active Army, Army National Guard, and Army Reserve components, working within federal law, Army guidance, national wildland-fire strategies, and NWCG/interagency standards.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Support implementation and oversight of Army Regulation 200-series wildland-fire guidance and related implementation instructions.
• Analyze Integrated Wildland Fire Management Plan (IWFMP) determination workflows, including waivers, exemptions, and approval processes.
• Support rollout of Army wildland-fire implementation guidance to commands and installations.
• Research and draft responses to technical and policy questions from Army commands and components.
• Support Army understanding and adoption of wildland-fire tools, systems, and technologies.
• Translate fire-management and interagency terminology into practical materials for installation and operational personnel.
• Develop communications products for multidisciplinary wildland-fire audiences.
• Support development and standardization of the GS-0456 Wildland Fire Management occupational series for Army use.
• Assist with development of occupational medical and fitness standards applicable to Army wildland-fire personnel.
• Support Army relationships with federal, state, tribal, and territorial wildland-fire partners.
• Coordinate Army participation in Prescribed Fire Training Exchange (TREX) and similar interagency training.
• Coordinate across Active Army, Army National Guard, and Army Reserve wildland-fire programs.
• Assist with development and justification of a formal Wildland Fire Program of Record, including requirements and resourcing narrative.
• Prepare briefings, information papers, and senior-leader products; review work for accuracy and Army quality standards.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in fire ecology, fire science, forestry, rangeland science, wildlife/natural resource management, environmental science, emergency management, or a closely related field; or equivalent wildland-fire program experience.
• 7–10 years of professional experience in wildland fire, fuels/prescribed fire, or fire-program management, including work on federal, military, state, or interagency lands.
• Demonstrated knowledge of federal wildland-fire policy, NWCG or interagency operating standards, and fire ecology as applied to land management.
• Familiarity with military or federal installation natural-resource programs and with plans such as IWFMPs and/or INRMPs.
• Knowledge of environmental and wildland-fire authorities relevant to DoD lands (e.g., Sikes Act context, ESA intersections with prescribed fire, Reciprocal Fire Protection Act / mutual aid).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to write policy-quality products and brief across organizational levels.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
• Ability to travel as required.

Desired Skills:

• Direct Army, Army National Guard, USMC, USAF, USFS, BLM, FWS, NPS, or state forestry wildland-fire program experience.
• Experience writing, reviewing, or implementing IWFMPs or equivalent fire-management plans.
• NWCG qualifications (currency not required), especially prescribed-fire or incident-management quals such as RXB2, RXB3, FIRB, ICT4, or ENGB.
• Experience with the GS-0456 series, IFPM, IQCS/IQS, medical/fitness standards, or wildland-fire workforce policy.
• Experience coordinating TREX, prescribed-fire training, or interagency agreements and mutual aid.
• Experience supporting program-of-record, POM/budget, or manpower documentation.
• Familiarity with Army components (Active, ARNG, USAR) and installation training-land management (ITAM/Sikes Act).
• Experience with Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Power BI, Visio, and related collaboration tools.
