Job summary

Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is seeking an in-person Home Assessment Team Member to conduct parcel level wildfire assessments and deliver mitigation guidance to residents. You will prioritize actions to reduce ignition risk and bolster wildfire resilience, working closely with the Community Engagement team within the Wildland Fire Management Program.

Qualifications

• NFPA Wildfire Mitigation Specialist Certification required within 2 years of hire.
• Experience engaging residents and communities in mitigation and preparedness.
• Ability to interpret and convey wildfire risk and mitigation guidance.

Responsibilities

• Engages and educates residents and communities on wildfire mitigation and preparedness strategies to improve wildfire resilience in the built environment.
• Plans, prepares, and coordinates individual home and community wildfire assessments.
• Conveys accurate wildfire risk and mitigation guidance in different wildland fuel types across Jefferson County.
• Provides technical guidance on home hardening and defensible space.
• Guides residents toward funding sources and relevant programs.
