Job summary

Novato Fire Protection District (CA) is seeking a Wildfire Mitigation Specialist to inspect properties, assist owners with mitigation plans, and educate the public on wildfire prevention. Training will be provided.

The role can be full- or part-time, with duties including inspections, risk assessment, and mitigation planning for the wildland/urban interface. The ideal candidate communicates clearly, explains district requirements, and can present mitigation strategies to the community.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills.
• Possession and maintenance of a valid California Class C driver license.
• High school diploma or GED certificate.

Responsibilities

• Analyze structure ignition potential in the wildland/urban interface using a science based approach.
• Identify appropriate construction materials, material ratings, and techniques for the wildland/urban interface.
• Determine the hazard, risk, and values-at-risk rating, for a wildland/urban interface jurisdictional area.
• Create a mitigation plan using treatments appropriate for the wildland/urban interface.
• Prepare reports related to fire prevention and mitigation activities.
