Job summary

South Dakota Department of Health is seeking a Regional Manager for the Division of Family and Community Health, OFNS. Lead WIC services across a large region using in-person, group, virtual, and mobile delivery methods.

Travel within the region is required to support sites, training, and partnership building. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor degree in Public Health Administration or related fields, plus experience supervising teams, building partnerships, managing grants and budgets,

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Public Health Administration, Organizational Leadership, Business Management.
• Experience with supervision, partnership building, collaboration, grants management, financial practices, policy development, program development, and evaluation.
• Knowledge of WIC policy and procedure principles and practices; managing change and organizational performance.

Responsibilities

• Assists with planning and promotion of WIC program services and lead the implementation of new initiatives.
• Builds strong strategic partnerships with outside agencies, providers, and stakeholders; developing agreements and contracts utilizing multiple service delivery methods.
• Assesses for gaps in services and explores opportunities to expand service delivery using innovative methods.
• Participates in multi-faceted community health assessments and planning.
• Facilitates outreach to underserved populations and uses creative problem-solving to identify and reduce barriers t services.
• Works closely with WIC Central Office Team and others conducting needs assessments and evaluations of public health interventions.
• Directs staff and resources to ensure the WIC Program is delivered in accordance with policies, procedures, regulations, standards, and professional scope of practice.
• Responsible for interviewing, hiring and evaluation of staff performance; provides guidance and coaching and motivates individuals and teams to achieve performance objectives.
• Analyzes and evaluates operations and makes recommendations for improvements to quality, cost, efficiency, staffing, and programming.
• Provides technical guidance and serves as a consultant for a wide variety of multidisciplinary and complex situations.
• Manages budget and fiscal oversite for contract services provided in the region.
• Works closely with Vendor Liaisons and Central Office Vendor Manager to coordinate vendor activities with potential and authorized vendors.
• Responsible for staff training and mentoring.
