Job summary

Kansas Department of Health and Environment is seeking a Communications Specialist to coordinate WIC program education, outreach, and communications between the State Agency, local agencies, vendors, and community partners.

The role includes developing materials, conducting trainings, and ensuring accurate messaging in line with federal/state requirements, with potential travel and a full-time schedule (Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm). The position emphasizes program integrity and stakeholder collaboration.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in planning, implementing and monitoring activities relevant to the agency’s programs. Education may be substituted for experience.
• Proofreading, editing, attention to detail

Responsibilities

• Coordinates WIC program education, outreach, and communication activities between the State Agency, local agencies, vendors, community partners, participants, and internal program staff.
• Supports WIC program integrity activities related to certification policies and procedures, dual participation, separation of duties, and prevention of participant or staff fraud and abuse.
• Develops, updates, and organizes templates, guidance documents, frequently asked questions, talking points, newsletters, website content, local agency updates, vendor notices, participant-facing materials, and other resources as assigned.
• Travels as required to support local agencies and partner sites.
