The Lundquist Institute for Biomedical Innovation at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center is seeking a Nutrition Education Specialist to deliver WIC program nutrition and breastfeeding support to diverse families in the South Los Angeles area.

Responsibilities include conducting risk assessments, documenting care plans, and collaborating with clinicians to address health needs. Flexibility in hours is required, and basic Spanish skills are preferred to serve Spanish-speaking participants.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's degree in Nutrition or Dietetics required with an in-depth knowledge of maternal and child health and nutrition.
• Responsible for conducting nutrition and health education activities for WIC Program participants.
• Conduct nutritional and breastfeeding/chestfeeding risk assessments for both low-risk and high-risk WIC Program participants.
• Must be willing to learn basic conversational Spanish.

Aufgaben

• Performs nutrition education and breastfeeding/chestfeeding support for WIC participants.
• Documents care plans and assessment data in the WIC WISE system.
• Reinforces Medical Nutrition therapy when available by health care providers.
• Collaborates with physicians and lactation consultants to address participants' health needs.
• Conducts presentations to WIC staff on nutrition topics.
• Is responsible for other tasks to support WIC Program operations.
• Must be willing to work flexible hours.
