Job summary

City of Hartford is seeking a nutrition education specialist to support the WIC program within the Health and Human Services Department. You will plan and implement nutrition, breastfeeding and education activities for participants and staff, conduct education classes, counsel high-risk clients, and supervise nutrition staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in nutrition or dietetics from an accredited college or university.
• Bilingual preferred: Fluent in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and implementing a nutrition, breastfeeding and education program for WIC participants and staff.
• Conduct nutrition education classes and breastfeeding support to WIC participants.
• Counsel medical and nutritional risk participants and document nutrition information.
• Supervise subordinate nutrition education personnel.
• Assist with outreach to the community and data collection as required.
