Job summary

Watonwan County Human Services is seeking a dedicated WIC Coordinator to manage the local WIC program, provide nutrition education, and ensure policy compliance. The role supports breastfeeding education, trains staff, and coordinates with state and regional WIC staff.

It also serves as back-up to other Public Health programs, within a full-time schedule. Responsibilities include eligibility determination, nutrition counseling, data gathering, referrals, and program promotion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nutrition, dietetics, clinical nutrition or related field, or RN licensure in Minnesota.
• Public Health Nurse certification or MN RN licensure.
• Current RN licensure in Minnesota.

Responsibilities

• Determine initial and ongoing eligibility for health programs per policy.
• Provide nutrition education to participants and high‑risk counseling.
• Gathers health statistics required for program criteria.
• Assess diet and medical history affecting nutrition status.
• Refer participants to health and social services as needed.
• Promote program through outreach and newsletters.
