Job summary

Thames Valley Council for Community Action in Norwich, CT is seeking a detail-oriented WIC Clerk to support the certification process for applicants and collaborate with WIC staff to ensure timely client services.

You will interview participants, verify residency and income eligibility, and enter data into CT-WIC MIS. The role also includes providing nutrition education counseling and handling clerical duties such as scheduling, updating records, and answering phones.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 2+ years in medical office/clerical work, OR Associate’s in diet tech/health field with 1+ year, OR Bachelor’s in nutrition/health sciences.
• Strong verbal and written communication with participants, staff, and partners.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; bilingual applicants encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Interview participants to collect demographic data and verify eligibility documents.
• Enter data into the CT-WIC MIS software system.
• Provide nutrition education counseling to low-risk children.
• Schedule appointments, update demographics, and answer phones.
