Job summary

CoAction seeks a WIC Clinical Assistant at our Merrillville clinic to greet clients, manage the front desk and clinic flow, and support daily operations.

You will schedule appointments, assist with intake, enter data, issue eWIC cards, explain WIC foods, and help with certification and outreach.

A high school diploma, strong communication skills, and willingness to complete WIC trainings are required; on-site role serving the Crown Point area.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service, healthcare, public health, or clerical roles preferred
• Basic computer literacy and familiarity with office equipment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Willingness to complete all WIC-required trainings upon hire

Responsibilities

• Greet clients in a professional and friendly manner, managing the front desk and clinic flow.
• Schedule and confirm appointments using the INWIC MIS.
• Assist applicants in completing intake paperwork and screen for basic eligibility.
• Collect and enter data, issue eWIC cards, and explain WIC-approved foods and usage.
• Educate clients on WIC services, including downloading and using the WIC mobile app.
• Provide informational materials and referrals to Medicaid, social services, and substance use support programs.
• Perform anthropometric and hemoglobin measurements as trained.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records in accordance with WIC and HIPAA regulations.
• Promote breastfeeding and support related outreach and education activities.
• Attend required trainings , in-service education, and staff meetings.
• Assist with maintaining inventory, supplies, and reporting logs.
• Other duties as assigned.
