Job summary

The State of Florida Department of Health is seeking a program assistant to support the WIC program in Brevard County. You will determine income eligibility, collect demographic data through interviews, and enter information into the electronic medical record.

The role requires strong communication, data entry accuracy, and ability to travel to clinics. Bilingual English/Spanish or Creole preferred. Emergency coverage may be required.

• Ability to obtain and accurately document data.
• Experience with typing and data entry; familiarity with Microsoft Office suite.
• Experience following policies and rules in a professional environment.

Responsibilities

• Determines income eligibility for WIC based on Federal/State guidelines.
• Obtains demographic data through telephone and face-to-face interviews.
• Accurately enters data into the electronic medical record.
• Notifies clients of their rights and responsibilities as program participants.
• Issues WIC benefits and instructs clients on benefits redemption process.
• Schedules appointments for WIC clients.
• Answers questions from WIC clients and the public.
• Refers clients to other resources and community organizations as needed.
• Travels to Brevard County clinic sites as needed.
• Willing to work before, during, and/or beyond normal hours in emergencies.
