Job summary

Santo Domingo Pueblo is seeking a Breastfeeding Peer Counselor to educate WIC prenatal and breastfeeding clients and support them through the postpartum period. The role emphasizes confidentiality, documentation, and creating a welcoming environment for all WIC participants.

You will participate in local, regional, and national WIC trainings, promote breastfeeding benefits, and help ensure efficient WIC operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; one year WIC experience preferred.
• Must be breastfeeding or have prior breastfeeding mom experience.
• Strong written and oral communication and data/documentation skills.
• Advanced computer skills; knowledge of WIC operations advantageous.
• Willingness to travel and work extended hours, including weekends.

Responsibilities

• Promote and educate WIC prenatal and breastfeeding moms on benefits of breastfeeding.
• Support breastfeeding continuation through the postpartum period.
• Assist in documenting contacts and maintaining a clean, welcoming WIC environment.
• Attend local, regional, and national WIC trainings and nutrition education.
• Maintain client confidentiality and collaborate with WIC staff.
