Job summary

The Florida Department of Health, Clay County Health Department, Fleming Island, FL, is seeking an OPS Family Support Worker to join the WIC clinic on a part-time basis (25-29 hours per week). The role focuses on breastfeeding support, client counseling, and coordinating with WIC staff.

You will maintain client records, assist with classes, attend staff meetings, and be available outside standard hours for breastfeeding issues.

Qualifications

• Work approximately 25-29 hours per week.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Applications.
• Knowledge of States of Florida Personnel Rules and applicable Florida Statues.
• Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and orally.
• Ability to prepare accurate reports timely.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
• Prioritize and organize a heavy workload.
• Detail-oriented.
• Exceptional customer service.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Part-time position 25-29 hours.
• Time sheet and EAR entry within the required time frame.
• Subject to emergency duty in the event of a natural disaster
• Completion of all trainings within the required time frame.
• Counsel women in the WIC clinic.
• Receive a caseload of WIC clients and make routine periodic contacts with all clients assigned.
• Give basic breastfeeding information and support to new mothers, including benefits of breastfeeding, overcoming barriers, and starting well.
• Available outside usual hours to new mothers with breastfeeding problems.
• Respect client confidentiality.
• Keep accurate records of all contacts with WIC clients.
• Work in outlying clinics as assigned.
• Refer mothers to clinicians or programs per protocol.
• Attend breastfeeding classes and support groups as assigned.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings.
• Complete forms by deadlines 90% of the time.
• Read assigned breastfeeding materials.
• Assist WIC staff in promoting breastfeeding peer counseling.
• Other duties assigned by supervisor.
