Vaco Recruiter Services in New York City seeks a Director of Wholesale Accounting to lead the wholesale accounting operations, oversee the monthly close, financial reporting, general ledger, and internal controls. The hybrid role includes four days onsite in NYC with opportunities to drive process improvements, system enhancements, and team development.

Ideal candidate has 8+ years of accounting leadership, a BA/Finance, public accounting background, and strong US GAAP knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 8+ years accounting experience with leadership responsibilities.
• Public accounting background preferred.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and revenue recognition.
• Experience with wholesale distribution of apparel or consumer products preferred.
• Experience with systems implementations or accounting process re-engineering.
• Advanced Excel skills; SAP experience preferred.
• CPA strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly close and management reporting for the wholesale business.
• Oversee inventory reserves, production overhead capitalization, revenue recognition and gross profit analysis.
• Review balance sheet reconciliations and provide variance commentary.
• Strengthen accounting processes, policies, workflows and internal controls.
• Support external audits and reporting related to asset-backed lending facility.
• Partner with FP&A, IT, AR, AP, Tax, Treasury and Operations.
• Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing accounting team.
• Drive systems enhancements and process improvements.
