Job summary

Vaco is seeking an Accounting Manager in Downtown Manhattan with a CPA and 5+ years of leadership-focused accounting experience. You will own Workday-based accounting processes and drive close, reporting, and regulatory deliverables under US GAAP.

You will mentor a team, partner with business units, and leverage AI tools to modernize workflows while balancing tax accuracy and compliance. The role blends on-site and remote work with a strong cross-functional focus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting; CPA designation required.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with leadership or mentorship exposure.
• Deep working knowledge of US GAAP and ability to apply principles to complex transactions.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise ERP systems (Workday preferred; SAP or Oracle highly regarded).
• Demonstrated ability to learn and adopt AI/automation tools to streamline operations.
• Strong change management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage financial close and reporting processes under US GAAP.
• Provide financial analysis, variance analyses, and commentary.
• Oversee transaction accounting and ensure proper treatment of new business transactions.
• Serve as Workday functional accounting lead; drive design, testing and releases.
• Leverage AI/automation to optimize accounting workflows and efficiency.
• Lead cross-functional projects including Workday design reviews.
• Oversee tax compliance and GST/HST filings; mentor the team.
