Job summary

SeAH Steel USA in Houston, TX is seeking a Wheel Loader Operator to transfer pipe materials across production stages in line with plant policies.

Responsibilities include maintaining yard transfers, verifying loading/unloading, using ERP for transfers, and following safety rules while lifting up to 50 pounds in a loud manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
• 3 years minimum forklift/wheel loader operation handling pipe.
• Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills.
• Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and handheld devices.
• Flexible or rotating schedule with potential overtime.
• Ability to respond to call outs when required.
• Follow all safety rules and PPE requirements.

Responsibilities

• Maintain transfer and production operations in accordance with plant policies and procedures.
• Instruct Yard Attendant regarding transfers and housekeeping operations.
• Verify all loading and unloading of material.
• Assist Inventory department for verification of counts and material.
• Route trucks to loading and unloading destinations within the yard.
• Complete loading and unloading documentation when required.
• Rack material in accordance with plant policies and procedures.
• Communicate any problems with material, racks, or trucks to Supervisor or Yard Lead.
• Assist with processing inbound and outbound racks when needed.
• Follow PPE policies and safety rules and report to Yard Lead for daily tasks.
• Maintain good housekeeping in yard and equipment.
• Lift and transfer material safely as per safety regulations.
• Document, verify and record transfers via ERP system and/or hard copies.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Wheel Loader Operator shall operate the functions of transferring pipe material throughout the stages of operations in accordance with plant policies and procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Maintain transfer and production operations in accordance with plant policies and procedures.
• Instruct Yard Attendant regarding transfers and housekeeping operations.
• Verify all loading and unloading of material.
• Assist Inventory department for verification of counts and material.
• Route trucks to loading and unloading destinations within the yard.
• Complete loading and unloading documentation when required.
• Racking of material in accordance with plant policies and procedures.
• Communicating to Supervisor or Yard Lead any problems with material, racks, or trucks.
• Assist at processing inbound and outbound racks when needed.
• Employee must follow all PPE policies and safety rules.
• Employee must report to the Yard Lead for briefing on daily tasks.
• Employee must maintain good housekeeping in the yard and their equipment.
• Lift and transfer material in a safe manner as per safety regulations and instruction.
• Document, verify and record transfers via ERP Software System and/or hard copies.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Competencies

• Education:
• A High School diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
• Years of Experience:
• 3-year minimum Forklift / Wheel Loader operation handling pipe.
• Job Knowledge:
• Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
• Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and hand held technical devices.
• Employee must be able to work with a flexible or rotating schedule which may require over-time when needed.
• Employee must be able to respond to call outs when required.
• Safety:
• Understands all applicable location safety rules and regulations and makes sure that all are being followed.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

• Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.
• Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted on site.
• The ability to lift 25/50 pounds regularly
• The ability to respond quickly to sounds
• The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces
• The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations
• The ability to safely climb ladders while carrying 40 pounds
• The ability to work in loud, hot environments/extreme weather while wearing required PPE.
• Ability to see 20-20 when corrected.
