Job summary

JM Eagle in Batchelor, LA is seeking a self-motivated forklift operator who can work independently or with a team to move plastic pipe and fittings and support yard and warehouse tasks.

Responsibilities include loading materials, performing daily forklift checks, maintaining stock organization, and adhering to safety procedures while learning new tasks and participating in required training sessions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; 1 year of forklift driving experience.
• One year shipping experience and ability to interpret basic documents.
• Ability to read safety rules and operate within safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift to load plastic pipe and fittings.
• Replenish fuel, oil, and water in trucks; complete daily forklift checklist.
• Inspect for damaged pipe and ensure safe handling.
• Plan loads and weight distribution; verify against loader's ticket.
• Keep yard and warehouse clean and organized.

• Stack crates correctly and clear the pad.
• Attend required safety trainings and wear PPE.

SUMMARY:

This position calls for a person who is self-motivated and does not need constant supervision. This person should be able to work alone as well as being able to work with a group. Imagination and inventiveness are also needed to cope with constantly changing situations and people.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Operators forklift in loading plastic pipe and fittings in accordance with prescribed loading methods.
• Replunishes fuel, oil and water in trucks, as required, completes "Daily Forklift Checklist"
• Watches for damaged pipe.
• Breaks standard units to make mixed or partial units.
• Be responsible for cleanup of the yard and warehouse.
• Perform quality checks while moving pipe.
• Plans loads and weight distribution: checks numbers of pipe against loaders ticket.
• Watches for damaged pipe.
• Be able to clear the pad and correctly stack the crates.
• Ability to grash tools and use them in a safe working manner.
• Know the organization of the stock racks.
• Attends required training sessions and wears the required safety equipment such as hearing protection, safety glasses, and other safety equipment that might be required for certain jobs or tasks.
• Is willing to learn new tasks and take on individual responsibilities

QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

One year shipping experience.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 1 year experience in forklift driving.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Experience with computers and basic keyboarding skills.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
