The Yard Attendant shall assist in the functions of transferring pipe material thru the stages of operation in accordance with plant policies and procedures. He/she will ensure a safe and compliant cooperation during his/her shift.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Safety is our number one priority. Employee must follow all PPE policies and safety rules.
- Employee must report to the yard lead for briefing on daily tasks.
- Assist with loading, unloading and verification of material.
- Employee must maintain good housekeeping ethics. Work area must be free and clear of debris.
- Assist in the transfer and production operations in accordance with plant policies and procedures.
- Follow the Forklift operator’s instruction during transfers and housekeeping operations.
- Employee will assist in the verification of all loading and unloading of material for quality assurance.
- Assists in Inventory Control for verification of counts and material.
- Routes trucks to loading and unloading destinations within the yard.
- Complete loading and unloading documentation when required.
- The employee is responsible for the assisting of racking of material per instruction.
- Communicating to yard lead any problems with material, racks, or trucks.
- Assisting at processing inbound and outbound racks when needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Competencies
Education: High school Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
Years of Experience
- At least 6 months’ experience or on the job training.
Job Knowledge
- Knowledge of the manufacturing processes, procedures, and yard instruments is a plus but not required.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Employee must be able to work with a flexible schedule which may require over-time.
Safety
- Understands all applicable location safety rules and regulations and makes sure that all are being followed.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.
- Loose-fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted on site.
- The ability to lift 25/50 pounds regularly.
- The ability to respond quickly to sounds.
- The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
- The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.
- The ability to safely climb ladders while carrying 40 pounds.
- The ability to work in loud, hot environments/extreme weather while wearing required PPE.
- Ability to see 20-20 when corrected.
- Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
