Job summary

Whale's Rib in Florida is seeking energetic servers to join our busy bar and dining room. You will greet guests, mix and serve drinks, take orders, process payments, and keep the bar clean and organized.

Candidates must stand all shift, lift up to 50 lbs, and pass Florida Responsible Vendor and food safety certifications. This on-site role offers a five-day work week and benefits.

Qualifications

• Must be able to stand for entire shift.
• Lift up to 50 lbs and perform light to moderate physical tasks.
• Able to read and write in English and handle handwritten guest checks.
• Complete and pass Florida Responsible Vendor program in compliance with statutes.
• Complete and pass Florida food safety certification.

Responsibilities

• Follows all safety and sanitation policies and training.
• Mixes and serves drinks according to recipes and measures.
• Serves guests with a cheerful, courteous demeanor and maintains a neat bar image.
• Maintains a clean, stocked bar area and verifies drink pricing.
• Enter orders into POS accurately and promptly; handle payments and change.
• Assist with serving food as required and respond to guest inquiries.
• Identify intoxicated guests and escalate to a Manager when needed.
• Perform shift changes, opening/closing duties and sidework.

Overview

From our deck swabs to the captains of our kitchen, we welcome the best and brightest to our crew. We run a tight ship and each person on our team plays an integral role to ensure smooth sailing. We’re looking for driven individuals that would make an excellent addition to our unit and we hope that’s you.

Responsibilities

• Follows all company safety and sanitation policies and procedural training
• Mixes liquor and drink ingredients according to company recipes and measures
• Serves guests in a cheerful and courteous temperament, as well as displays a neat and clean professional image
• Maintains a neat and clean, properly stocked bar
• Verifies correct pricing for drinks
• Ability to serve food according to the Server Job Description requisites
• Be knowledgeable of drink promotions and specials, and answer guests’ questions verbally and clearly
• Accurately enter orders into POS system, in a timely manner
• Ability to assess guests’ demeanor, identify intoxicated guests and determine when to summon a Manager.
• Collect guests’ payments (credit cards, cash, or gift cards only), ensures transactions are correct using POS efficiently, calculates and delivers correct change to guests in a timely manner
• Perform shift changes, opening/closing duties, assigned sidework

Qualifications

• Can physically stand/walk 100 % of shift
• Can reach, bend, stoop, stir, wipe, as well as shake drinks vigorously
• Can immerse hands in water frequently
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to speak, read and write English
• Ability to read and write handwritten guest checks, notes, etc
• Complete and pass Florida Responsible Vendor program, in compliance with Whale’s Rib and Florida statutes
• Complete and pass food safety certification Vendor program, in compliance with Whale's Rib and Florida statutes
• Ability to request proper identification, as well as manually calculate and determine guests’ age
