Job summary

ARES is seeking a WFF Junior - Hydraulic/Mechanical Technician for our Wallops Island location. You will test and repair mechanical systems, diagnose faults using diagnostic equipment, and perform scheduled maintenance on industrial machinery.

The role requires reading manuals and blueprints, operating heavy equipment, and maintaining service records. Travel up to 25% and tower-climbing physicals may be required as part of safety procedures.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and 1–2 years related experience.
• Vocational certificate is desirable.
• Ability to read operating manuals, blueprints and technical drawings.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% and pass physicals for tower climbing.

Responsibilities

• Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance.
• Repair and replace damaged or worn parts; diagnose defects with test equipment.
• Dismantle/reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools.
• Schedule maintenance and keep service records for industrial machines.

Position Requirements:

The successful candidate shall possess at a minimum the following qualifications:

High School Diploma and 1-2 years related experience. Possessing a related vocational school certificate is desirable.

• Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications.
• Repair and replace damaged or worn parts. Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects.
• Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs, using engine diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment and calibration devices.
• Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools.
• Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.
• Observe trailer hauling and tie-down procedures
• Examine parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges.
• Schedule maintenance for industrial machines and equipment, and keep equipment service records.
• Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.
• Overhaul and test machines or equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
• Must be able to acquire and maintain NASA forklift, Man-lift and Overhead Crane
• Operators and Safety Certificates as well as a valid CDL driver's license.
• Capable of the successful completion of applicable tower climbing physicals.
• Use and application of all test equipment related to validation, troubleshooting, and configuration of various data collection systems is required.

Compliance with safety and quality awareness policies is mandatory. Shift work and travel up to 25% or more may be required. Assignments may change or vary.
