Job summary

City of New York’s NYC Parks seeks a Community Associate to support restoration and management of parklands from Queens to Coney Island. You will work with ecologists, gardeners, and water resource specialists, performing field logistics and data tasks in a collaborative municipal setting.

The role involves coordinating purchases, scheduling, and community engagement while using ArcGIS and the Office suite to produce reports and maps for internal and public audiences.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent with 3+ years in community work or related duties.
• Equivalent combination of education/experience may be accepted.

Responsibilities

• Provide logistical and field support for restoration and management of natural parkland.
• Coordinate purchasing, receiving supplies, and budget tracking with vendors.
• Assist in scheduling interviews, meetings, and conference calls.
• Coordinate partner projects with non-profits and City divisions.
• Assist in ecological monitoring to support compliance and restoration.
• Assist in community engagement, including meetings and stewardship events.
• Prepare materials for permit applications and environmental reviews.
• Use Microsoft Office and ArcGIS to input, map, and visualize data.
• Prepare maps, technical reports, and presentations for managers and the public.
