Job summary

DEPT OF PARKS & RECREATION in New York City seeks a Community Coordinator to support wetlands mitigation and environment planning. You will coordinate fieldwork, map and analyze wetland data, and assist with developing mitigation programs.

The role requires collaboration with city and state agencies, strong communication, and project management skills. The position is based at The Grove, Rego Park, Queens, for a 9‑month term.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and two years of community work or related experience.
  • High school diploma with six years of related experience.
  • Equivalent combinations with at least one year of experience as described.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate wetlands and aquatic habitat mitigation on City parkland under Wetlands Compliance Specialist.
  • Use ArcGIS and Microsoft Access to update databases and maps for wetlands projects.
  • Support development of a comprehensive wetlands mitigation program and related policy tasks.
  • Review proposals, plans, designs, contracts, permits, and documents for wetlands projects.
  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders in a governmental context to achieve goals.
  • Conduct field work in freshwater and tidal wetlands to support restoration and protection.
  • Prepare maps, figures, reports, and presentations for internal and public audiences.
