Job description

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking aWetland Scientist / Biologist to join our renewables team in our Fort Worth or Planooffice. General interest and willingness to learn environmental due diligence, ecology, wildlife, and trees is essential. Westwood is an environmental, permitting, engineering and surveying firm that provides services nationwide for the development of renewable energy and land development projects. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients.

Duties and Responsibilities

The qualified individual will provide field services and office-based report preparation to support the planning, design, and approvals of site improvements for wind and solar energy projects as well as residential and commercial land development projects. Responsibilities will include :

• onsite routine field wetland delineations across the country
• regulatory meetings,
• report preparation
• wetland monitoring

The position will involve periodic travel, typically one to two weeks travel monthly, but may be more during the busy portions of the field season.

Required Experience

• 0-3 years of experience conducting wetland delineations.
• Degree in environmental science, soil science, biology, botany, or related natural sciences
• Experience or education in wetland delineation, and an awareness of state and federal wetland regulations.
• Familiarity with US Army Corps of Engineers wetland delineation manual and regional supplements for multiple regions of the US is preferred but can train.
• Comfortable working outdoors in remote locations for long periods in hot and cold climatic conditions.
• Willingness and ability to walk long distances on foot while carrying up to 50lbs of equipment.
• Experience with GPS equipment and ArcGIS is preferred but not mandatory.
• Must have the ability to travel periodically to project locations across the country.
