Job description

Position Overview

Groundwater & Environmental Services, Inc. (GES), a leader in environmental consulting, engineering, compliance, and technical services, is seeking an entry to mid-level Biologist or Environmental Scientist to support fieldwork and environmental remediation projects.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct environmental permitting activities, including natural resources inventory, wetland delineations, species assessments, and environmental sampling.
  • Perform fieldwork such as wetland delineations and species surveys.
  • Assess streams (perennial, intermittent, ephemeral), conduct stream reach condition studies, and Benthic surveys.
  • Prepare 401/404 permitting documents and coordinate with agencies, utilizing COE Regional Supplements for wetland delineations.
  • Understand local, state, and federal water quality laws (CWA, RHA Section 10, ESA, NHPA, NEPA).
  • Experience with Rosgen Natural Channel Design (Levels I-IV) is a plus.
  • Identify flora and fauna, including endangered and threatened species.
  • Perform Phase 1 and 2 environmental site assessments, sampling, well installation, and reporting.
  • Communicate project status, schedules, and compliance issues with clients and regulatory agencies.
  • Develop SPCC and SWPPP documents and perform site investigations.
  • Adhere to health, safety, security, and environmental standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Geology, Earth Sciences, Environmental Studies, Forestry, Wildlife Biology, or related field; Master’s preferred.
  • 0-5+ years of relevant experience, including field and office work in environmental consulting; experience with retail petroleum or industrial projects is a plus.
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills; proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with GPS equipment and GIS data collection.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and take on challenging tasks.
  • Legal eligibility to work in the US and a valid driver’s license.
