Job summary

Muller, Inc. in Silver Spring, MD is seeking a hands-on Excavation Technician to perform trenching, backfilling and site work for water and sewer projects. You will operate heavy equipment, follow OSHA safety policies, and ensure quality control across the crew.

Responsibilities include installing trench boxes, maintaining equipment, training teammates, and coordinating with Superintendents and Project Managers. A valid driver's license and ability to work in confined spaces are required.

Qualifications

• Must be able to communicate directly with clients.
• 1 year of experience or more with wet utility.
• Must be able to operate large excavators with precision.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Must be able to work in confined spaces.
• Ability to access secured facilities.
• High attention to detail.

• Ensure proper excavation & compaction procedures are performed.
• Ensures all equipment is maintained by performing daily equipment inspections & grease equipment at required intervals.
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of underground utilities.
• Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required to complete the job.
• Manage quality control and production.
• Train team members as needed in a hands-on manner.

Physical Requirements:

• Employee must be physically fit to perform duties of the job in all types of environments and conditions, including heavy lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling (up to 50 lbs.).
• Regularly required to sit and stand, must be able to use hands to fingers, handle or feel and verbally communicate and listen.
• Other physical requirements include walking, climbing, balancing, and stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending or crawling.
• Specific vision abilities required by the position include distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
