Job summary

Westfall Technik Inc. in Riverside, CA is seeking an Automation Engineer responsible for troubleshooting, repair, preventative maintenance, and overhaul of electronic and electromechanical equipment. The role requires reading schematics and identifying components to plan and execute projects.

You will work with vision systems (Cognex/Keyence a plus), read electrical prints, and lead maintenance activities with strong technical knowledge, aiming to keep production running efficiently.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalency required.
• Technical degree or certificate a plus.
• Strong knowledge of plastic processing and troubleshooting.
• Basic math and electrical skills; basic computer skills.
• Read measuring devices, gauges and inspection tools.
• Forklift training can be completed on the job.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on electronic/electromechanical equipment.
• Read and interpret electronic schematics to identify components for projects.
• Oversee EOAT changeovers and upkeep to minimize downtime.
• Maintain safe, organized, and clean work environment.

We are currently seeking Automation Engineer, with the below qualifications:

SUMMARY OF ROLE

The Automation Engineer is responsible for troubleshooting, repair, preventative maintenance, and overhaul work on electronic/electromechanical equipment. Position will read and interpret electronic schematics and identify components to manage and assemble projects.

Professional Attributes

• Must be highly mechanically inclined and have a strong ability to use basic hand tools
• Must understand low and high voltage wiring
• Must be capable of reading electrical prints
• Must have knowledge of vision systems. Cognex and Keyence a plus
• Mill and lathe experience a plus
• Perform EOAT changeovers for production when directed
• Perform preventive automation maintenance as per instruction and assigned intervals
• Inspect equipment for defects and plan for solutions to prevent downtime
• General housekeeping around the shop and maintain safe work environment
• Maintain cleanliness, safety and functionality of components, tools and equipment
• Maintain electronic/electromechanical equipment to ensure it is in optimal running condition
• Work independent with strong technical knowledge leading team for proactive planning and maintenance
• Effective communication skills both verbally and written
• Responsible for following all internal and OSHA required safety procedures
• Other responsibilities as assigned

Desired Skills and Experience

• Strong knowledge of plastic processing and troubleshooting
• Basic math skills. Basic electrical skills Basic computer skills
• Read, use and interpret measuring devices, gauges and inspection tools
• Possess good hand-eye coordination with manual dexterity
• Forklift training (can be completed on the job)
