Job summary

YMCA of Dane County is seeking a part-time lifeguard for weekday shifts (Monday–Friday, 9–5). The role offers a free YMCA membership and flexible hours while you help keep members safe and engaged.

Starting pay is $16.00 per hour with opportunities to build valuable work experience and earn a future reference. Must meet certifications and age requirements and demonstrate strong communication with members and staff.

Qualifications

• Current Red Cross Lifeguard/CPR/AED/First Aid certification and keep current.
• Must be 15 years of age or older.
• Ability to demonstrate lifeguard skills per YMCA standards.
• Ability to communicate professionally with members, staff and supervisors.
• Outgoing, friendly approach to lead and motivate members.
• Maintain physical and mental readiness at all times.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe pool environment and supervise swimmers.
• Enforce pool rules and safety protocols to prevent accidents.
• Support members with positive, welcoming interactions.
• Collaborate with other staff to ensure a safe and friendly facility.
