Job summary

YMCA of Dane County is hiring lifeguards to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for members. The role offers part-time weekday shifts (Mon-Fri 9-5) with flexible hours and a starting pay of $16.00 per hour, plus a free YMCA membership.

Ideal candidates are at least 15 years old and must hold current Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR/AED, and First Aid certifications, and demonstrate lifeguard skills to YMCA standards. Friendly, proactive communicators are valued.

Qualifications

• Current Red Cross Lifeguard/CPR/AED/First Aid certification current.
• Must be 15 years of age or older.
• Ability to demonstrate lifeguard skills to YMCA standards.
• Professional and effective communication with members and staff.
• Outgoing, friendly approach to motivate members.
• Maintain physical and mental readiness at all times.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe environment for pool facilities and members.
• Support lifeguard team and respond promptly to emergencies.

Qualifications:

• Possess or obtain within the indicated time frame the following certifications and keep all certifications current:
  • Current Red Cross Lifeguard/CPR/AED/First Aid certification
• Must be 15 year of age or older
• Ability to demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
• Ability to professionally and effectively communicate with members, staff and supervisors
• Have an outgoing, friendly approach that will lead and motivate members
• Ability to maintain a level of physical and mental readiness at all times.
