Job summary

A community wellness organization is looking for a part-time Lifeguard to ensure pool safety and provide surveillance. Candidates must be at least 16 years old, maintain certifications in CPR and First Aid, and demonstrate physical readiness. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

LIFEGUARD:

Maintains CPR, First Aid and AED certifications.

Maintains active surveillance of the pool area.

Knows and reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations.

Responds to challenges with possible solutions in a timely manner.

Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area.

Remains calm and objective when under pressure or when challenged by others.

Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state health department code.

Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed.

Checks the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving.

Performs chemical testing when not guarding, as required, and takes appropriate action.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum age of 16

Red Cross Lifeguard Certification or equivalent (We will assist in obtaining needed certification)

Ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness

Job Type: Part-time 4:45am - 9am (Mon-Fri)

Salary: $11.00 - $13.00 per hour
